ACHIEVEMENT: A Youth Newspaper that serves our community is distributed in the City of Melbourne.

TARGET DATE: December 2003

PROGRESS: Some. While no youth newspaper has been sponsored by the City of Melbourne, I have become aware that an EZine called Active is providing a free electronic magazine by subscription that is catering to the same audience that this proposal may well have.

DESCRIPTION: Council provides a start up contribution to a group of young people to produce a free on-street newspaper in the city. The paper covers youth and city issues as well as giving a group of young people a voice and valuable opportunities.

FURTHER INFORMATION: An example of an electronic magazine, Activ8, can be subscribed to easily at no cost. Activ8 is a project of THE HOUSE. Also supported by THE HOUSE is BLTC, enTrance, i Project, Vision 2003, The Radio, The Gate, Club Beta.

Activ8 ezine bulletin circulates to over 1,000 people in Australia who are interested in the world we live in today and the ways society expects humans to behave and how we can change those expectations
