ACHIEVEMENT: To introduce discounted MET public transport tickets for Melbourne City Council.
| TARGET DATE: December 2001 |
PROGRESS: Achieved |
DESCRIPTION: This is a scheme whereby staff can elect to purchase MET tickets through payroll deduction. The tickets are provided to staff at a 10% discount by the public transport operators and paid for up front by the City of Melbourne. The City of Melbourne is then reimbursed through regular payroll deductions from the staff member. Multi-modal tickets for any zone combination are available.
I negotiated the 10% discount for the City of Melbourne for 2002, which has been subsequently been re-offered. This scheme is known as the Commuter Club.
Over 100 staff and one councillor [any guesses as to who?] have joined the scheme, and can be seen smiling on public transport coming to work as their trains, trams and buses increasingly enjoy priority journeys into the city.
FURTHER INFORMATION: I will post information on if and how your organisation can join the Commuter Club when I confirm its availability in 2003.
Information on my proposal to introduce discounted tickets to City of Melbourne residents is at the page titled: Monthly, 6 monthly or yearly MET tickets at 10% discount for residents
Information on my proposal to introduce discounted tickets to City of Melbourne workers is at the page titled: Monthly, 6 monthly or yearly MET tickets at 10% discount for workers
Information on my proposal to introduce discounted tickets to everyone across Greater Melbourne is at the page titled: Monthly, 6 monthly or yearly MET tickets at 10% discount for Metropolitan Melbourne
